When M/M Smith (name changed) first asked me to consider taking over their alarm system, they had been through two other companies during the 8 years in their 12,500 SF home. They had been abandoned by one company, lied to by the second and simply wanted someone to provide honest and professional service. I agreed to take over their system under the condition that I could perform a thorough test of the system first. Mrs. Smith wisely agreed and insisted on that as well.

Numerous instances of incorrect and potentially life-threatening deficiencies were found in their system., including:

Furnace room Carbon Monoxide Detector had no power supply and had never been powered up in the 8 years they lived there!
Wireless transmitter connected to the CO Detector had never had its battery changed and the system couldn't detect any problem because the transmitter was unsupervised.
Wireless transmitter for the CO Detector had never been "learned" into the receiver so the control panel could not receive danger signals even if the batteries were good.
None of the Fire zones had the required supervisory module to detect potentially life-threatening problems.
One of the Fire zones produced a "Burglary" warning message when tested.
Another Fire zone produced NO warning at all when tested!
Telephone wire & standard alarm wire were used in fire detection circuits instead of code-required UL Fire Wire.
The main first floor motion detector was aimed too high to catch intruders.
Glass-break detectors were improperly installed and left windows unprotected.
The FCC-required telephone interface had not been installed.
